“I wish somebody would actually help me.”

“I wish somebody could explain this to me.”

“I wish somebody cared about what I’m going through.”


Sound familiar?  Navigating healthcare is complex, painful, and confusing.  A 2017 UnitedHealthcare Consumer Sentiment Survey showed that only 9% of Americans surveyed “showed an understanding” of four basic health insurance terms — health plan premium, health plan deductible, out-of-pocket maximum, and co-insurance. If only 9% of Americans understood those 4 basic terms, how many do we think know enough to fully understand their health benefits and choose a plan that is appropriate for them and their families? This is not the consumers fault though. Health insurance plans are notorious for being hard to understand - with lots of underlying meanings and messaging behind their unique language and verbiage. Of course, there are also so many hidden costs and fees in the insurance world. 


How many solutions are truly focused on employees and their families?  Someone that enters an unchosen healthcare journey must deal with work, family, appointments, prescriptions, medical equipment, and more. Are they really in the best frame of mind to make the right decisions for the right reasons?   A 2021 study from stress.org highlighted 40% of workers reported their job was very or extremely stressful. Twenty-five percent of employees view their jobs as the number one stressor in their lives, while 29% of workers felt quite a bit or extremely stressed at work. Employees are extremely stressed and have enough on their plates at work. Should we expect them to be prepared for the research, time, and energy necessary to successfully get the healthcare they need? Health insurance should be assuring and helpful, not causing employees who are already so busy even more stress. Luckily, there is a solution.
